Trump names Kejti Zakarija as White House spokesperson
Trump announced the appointment on Truth Social; Zakarija will replace Karoline Leavitt, who left in late August.

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he has chosen Kejti Zakarija, a communications adviser at his media company, to replace Karoline Leavitt as White House spokesperson.
Trump posted the appointment on his social platform, Truth Social, where he often publishes political and official statements. Zakarija is a conservative commentator working within Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind the platform.
Transition amid political pressure
Karoline Leavitt left the post at the end of August after the birth of her second child. The new naming places Zakarija at the center of White House efforts to shape public perception during a challenging stretch for the administration.
“It is a great honor for me that I have just appointed Kejti Zakarija as White House spokesperson,” the president wrote in his post on the social network.
The choice comes as Trump’s approval rating has fallen to record lows and as his party fights to retain control of Congress in the midterm elections next month. Trump has urged his supporters to vote so that his name appears on the ballot, framing the elections as a referendum on his presidency amid widespread discontent over the economic situation and an unpopular war with Iran.
