Trump to stress Iran’s nuclear threat in UN General Assembly address
Mike Waltz says Trump will warn against Iran gaining nuclear weapons and push a 20-point Gaza plan during next week’s UN General Assembly session.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said that President Donald Trump will use his upcoming address to the UN General Assembly to warn about the danger of Iran attempting to acquire nuclear weapons.
Agenda and bilateral meetings during the UN visit
Waltz told Fox News that Trump will also discuss his administration’s efforts in Gaza, including a 20-point peace plan that the White House wants to promote as part of its diplomatic package.
The visit will include talks with leaders from six Persian Gulf states, Waltz said, as Washington weighs its next moves amid the conflict with Iran.
In addition to the regional meetings, Waltz said Trump plans bilateral meetings with British prime minister Andy Bernam and Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi while world leaders gather in New York.
Trump is scheduled to address the General Assembly next week, when the annual UN meeting brings heads of state and government to New York, and Waltz framed the trip as an opportunity to rally international support on several security and diplomatic priorities.
