Trump says he agreed with Putin on millions of tons of diesel for US and world markets

U.S. President Donald Trump said he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and that the two agreed Russia will send multiple millions of tons of diesel fuel to the United States and the global market. Trump wrote the details on his social network, Truth Social, and argued the shipments will push diesel prices sharply lower.

Planned volumes and timing

According to Trump’s post, Russia will "immediately" deliver more than 300,000 tons of diesel, send another 500,000 tons during November, and later supply one million tons. He added that, depending on the condition of Russian refineries, an additional three million tons could be made available in the short term.

Trump linked the announcement to U.S. control of the Strait of Hormuz, saying the combination of that control and the Russian fuel deliveries will have a major effect on prices.

In his post he wrote: "Between our complete control over the Strait of Hormuz and this big announcement about Russian energy, diesel prices for Americans, but also for the whole world, will quickly and fall to record lows."

Trump also framed the move as part of his economic priorities, saying one of his top goals is to lower costs for American households — specifically naming farmers, ranchers and truckers as groups that would benefit.

Market analysts noted that large, near-term shipments of diesel from a major supplier could reduce wholesale prices if deliveries occur as described, but they cautioned that tempo, logistical constraints and refinery capacities will determine the real impact.
