Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach a peace deal
Speaking at the White House, Trump said Moscow wants an agreement and warned Russian forces are advancing.

US President Donald Trump again urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate a settlement with Russia to end the war, speaking to reporters at the White House.
Trump told journalists that Moscow wants an agreement and warned that Russian forces are continuing to advance and occupy Ukrainian territory. His remarks framed diplomacy as the immediate path to halt further losses of land.
Costs and political pressure
The president said the United States and European countries have spent huge sums supporting Ukraine and suggested American taxpayers have grown weary of financing the conflict. He used that argument to press for a negotiated outcome.
Trump also warned that the situation for Kyiv could deteriorate further if no deal is reached. He added that Zelensky had an opportunity to accept a more favorable agreement two years ago.
With this public appeal, Trump renewed pressure on Kyiv to enter talks with Moscow; he framed the push as motivated by military developments on the ground and by the financial and political burdens felt in Western capitals.
