Transfers: Bayern in talks over Harry Kane; Gjokeresh linked to Barcelona, Gakpo eyed by Tottenham
Bayern will begin talks to extend Kane’s deal; Barcelona target a classic striker while Tottenham chase Cody Gakpo after a 3:0 defeat to Brentford.

Top-flight transfer activity picked up on 23 August 2026 as Bayern Munich moved to calm speculation over their striker situation, Barcelona continued searching for a traditional centre-forward and Tottenham reshuffled after a damaging league defeat.
Bayern have made it clear they plan to open contract talks with Harry Kane in the coming days and do not consider his exit imminent. The English forward's current agreement with Bayern expires in June 2027.
Forward movement across leagues
Reports from England and Spain link Viktor Gjokeresh with a possible move away from Arsenal if clubs such as Napoli (with Victor Osimhen) or Manchester City (with Alvarez) further strengthen the title-challenger attacks in the Premier League. Barcelona, pressed for time in the market, are searching for a classic striker; Alvarez remains their primary target but a move this summer looks unlikely and Inter have no intention of selling Lautaro.
Tottenham — after investing more than 300 million euros on reinforcements and suffering a 3:0 defeat to Brentford — are said to be pursuing Cody Gakpo, one of Liverpool's standout attackers. At the same time, Richarlison is expected to leave Tottenham.
The transfer window remains fluid, with several clubs balancing urgency against long-term planning as they try to finalise deals before deadlines.
