Trayvone Reid misses penalty again with slow run-up; Mount Pleasant reach final

Jamaican forward Trayvone Reid missed a penalty in exactly the same unusual way for a second time as Mount Pleasant beat Club Sando in the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup semifinal rematch. Reid’s slow, stuttering approach — likened to Paul Pogba’s style — failed to fool goalkeeper Teshorn Ragu, who read the kick and kept it out.

Reid had already failed from the spot in the first leg on October 15, when he spent almost 20 seconds edging toward the ball with small steps. He reproduced the same ritual in the return fixture, and again the goalkeeper stopped the shot.

Despite the miss, Mount Pleasant took the tie. The side won the rematch 2-0, advanced to the Caribbean Cup final and secured a place in the 2027 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Social media reaction

Fans and pundits reacted quickly online. One social media post asked, "World’s SLOWEST penalty? Trayvone Reid mocked for showboating after his painfully slow run-up ends in a MISS." Another wrote in Spanish, "¡TRAYVONE REID LO VUELVE A HACER! ❌⚽ Dos penales fallados en 8 días y sigue pateando de la misma manera."

Reid plays as a wide forward for Mount Pleasant; despite the high-profile misses, his team’s victory ensured the result that matters most for the club’s season and continental ambitions.
