13-year-old stabbed in Čair, Skopje — critical condition

A violent incident involving several minors took place near Macedonian–Kosovska Brigade Boulevard in the Čair neighbourhood of Skopje. A 13-year-old boy suffered serious chest wounds and is in critical, life-threatening condition after being stabbed; he was admitted to the University Clinic for Traumatology in Skopje.

The University Clinic for Traumatology confirmed the boy arrived with severe injuries to the chest area and that he remains in a life-threatening state. Surgeons performed an operation, and medical staff recorded injuries that affected the region of the heart. The condition was also confirmed by Minister of Health Sasho Klekovski.

Detentions and inquiry

Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski said that one of those involved is a minor of the same age as the injured boy. He added that that youth, together with four other individuals, has been detained and is being held at a police station while authorities continue their investigation.

Witnesses who were at the scene called for tougher, systemic prevention measures to curb youth violence and urged stronger parental supervision. Many emphasised that family upbringing plays a crucial role in the early stages of a young person’s development.

The stabbing in Čair comes amid a wave of physical confrontations among minors that has drawn renewed public attention. Several such episodes have been shared on social media, and in some instances criminal charges were later filed.
