Turkey to sell first domestically developed smartphone in Q1 2027
A joint project by ASELSAN, Türk Telekom and TTT İnovasyon plans three models, including a high-end encrypted device for state use, with first release expected in Q1 2027.

Turkey has announced plans to bring a domestically developed smartphone to market in the first quarter of 2027, a project built through a partnership between defense firm ASELSAN, telecommunications operator Türk Telekom and technology company TTT İnovasyon.
Three models planned; one tailored for state use
The initiative foresees three distinct devices. One of those will be specifically designed for government officials and state administration, while the other two are intended for the wider consumer market.
The model aimed at state administration is described as a high-end device equipped with an encrypted protection system; its primary purpose will be secure communication for official use. The remaining two models will target mass-market buyers with more conventional feature sets.
Officials working on the programme expect the first model to be unveiled during the opening quarter of 2027, with production and sales to follow if testing and certification proceed on schedule.
Backers of the project say the collaboration combines ASELSAN's security and systems expertise, Türk Telekom's network and distribution capabilities, and TTT İnovasyon's consumer technology development. They regard the effort as part of a broader push to strengthen domestic technology supply chains.
Exact pricing, technical specifications and launch markets for the consumer models have not yet been released; developers say further details will be published as the prototypes are finalised and tested.
