48-year-old arrested near Tetovo for extortion with intimate photos

On September 7, 2026, officers from the Department for Computer Crime at the Tetovo Police detained a 48-year-old man identified as Z. Gj. from the village of Dolno Sedlarce, Tetovo municipality, on suspicion of committing an offence under Article 152‑a in connection with Article 24 of the Criminal Code.

Search, evidence and detention

Acting on a court order, police searched the suspect's home and seized one mobile phone and one laptop computer as potential evidence. The search was carried out the same day as the initial complaint.

The case began when a woman from Tetovo reported that Z. Gj. and another person had unlawfully shared and published her private photos and videos with explicit content. The materials date to the period when she and the suspect were in a relationship.

According to the report, over the past two years the suspect repeatedly demanded money from the woman in exchange for not publishing the recordings.

Z. Gj. remains held at a police station; authorities said that after the investigation is completed, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
