85-year-old from Zagrachani detained for starting fire near "Lok"
A.M. (85) was detained on 4 September at 16:30 after police say he started a blaze on open land between Zagrachani and Dolna Belica.
Police in the Struga area have detained an elderly local in connection with a wildfire that was deliberately started near the locality known as "Lok".
Details of the incident
According to information released by the Ministry of Interior, on 4 September at 16:30 an individual identified as A.M. (85) from the village of Zagrachani was taken into custody on the local road between Zagrachani and Dolna Belica.
Investigators say A.M. set fire to open terrain covered with low vegetation at the spot called "Lok," which led to a blaze that required an organised firefighting response.
There were no injuries reported. The Territorial Firefighting Unit from Struga responded and extinguished the flames.
Police stated that once the case is fully documented, an appropriate criminal or misdemeanor report will be filed against A.M. (85).
