Man from Veles arrested on suspicion of rape in an Ohrid nightclub

A man from Veles was arrested on suspicion of raping a young woman in a nightclub in Ohrid, police reported.
Authorities say the suspect, identified only by the initials K.S., was detained on August 10, 2026 at 18:30 by officers from SVR Ohrid.
Police report and victim's complaint
"Earlier the same day, at 14:35, a 21-year-old woman from Sweden reported to SVR Bitola that in the night between August 8 and 9, in a nightclub in Ohrid, the suspect committed rape against her," SVR Ohrid said.
The alleged assault is said to have occurred during the night between August 8 and 9 in an Ohrid nightclub; the complaint was filed on August 10, 2026 at 14:35, according to the police statement.
Investigators from SVR Ohrid are handling the case and police say the inquiry is ongoing. No additional operational details or information on formal charges have been released so far.
The suspect remains in custody pending further procedural steps. Police statements emphasise that the case is under investigation and that the legal process will determine responsibility.
