President Zelensky calls for a prompt probe
Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, published a reaction on Facebook expressing his shock. He wrote: "A terrible crime has been committed in the Benedictine sisters' abbey in Jaroslaw. We are shocked by this act of hatred." He also urged a fast and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Local emergency services treated several injured people at the scene and authorities have opened a criminal inquiry. Officials gave no immediate indication of any broader national-security or political motive, and forensic and police teams were reported to be examining the monastery and interviewing witnesses.
