The Hydrometeorological Service (UHMR) issued an orange weather alert for the entire territory of North Macedonia for Sunday, 6 September. The warning covers strong northwesterly winds and very warm daytime temperatures across the country.

Short-term outlook and local details

"The weather will be sunny and warm with little to moderate local cloudiness. Strong northwesterly winds will blow, which in places, especially along the Vardar valley, will reach speeds of 60 km/h. Minimum temperatures will range from 12 to 21, and maximums will reach from 30 to 37 degrees," the UHMR said.

In Skopje conditions are expected to be sunny and warm with little to moderate cloudiness. A strong northerly wind will blow, with minimum temperatures falling to 16°C and daytime highs reaching up to 33°C.

Through the remainder of the coming work week the forecast remains for sunny and warm weather with only small, local cloud development during the day. The strong northwesterly wind is expected tomorrow, particularly along the Vardar valley, but from Tuesday the wind will shift to a southeasterly direction.

Residents are advised to take usual precautions for windy conditions and elevated temperatures, especially in the afternoon when the highest readings are expected.
