40,000 litres of Guinness stolen from warehouse near Liverpool
Two trailers carrying about 800 kegs were taken on the evening of 31 August; Cheshire Police put the loss at $155,000.
British police are hunting for about 40,000 litres of Guinness after two trailers loaded with the stout were taken from a warehouse near Liverpool, Cheshire Police said.
The stolen beer — reputedly creamy, dark Guinness — was valued at $155,000. Two trailers carrying the cargo were driven off from the site, the force added.
Details of the theft
The beer had been destined for pubs but was taken on the evening of 31 August when two drivers arrived at an industrial estate in Runcorn and drove away with the trailers. The load included roughly 800 kegs, and the trailers themselves were estimated to be worth $67,000.
“It's often said 'Guinness is good for you', but that only applies when the beer is bought and paid for,” said detective-sergeant Gary McClachie. “We will not be satisfied with anything less than the full return of all stolen goods.”
Cheshire Police said officers are treating the disappearance as a significant theft and remain committed to recovering the missing product and trailers.
