Ukraine and Finland sign drone-production and defence-industry agreement

Ukraine and Finland signed an agreement in Kyiv on cooperation in defence production, centred on manufacturing drones and other robotic systems, the two presidents announced at a working-group meeting held ahead of Ukraine's Independence Day celebrations.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and Finnish President Alexander Stubb attended the meeting where the companies involved formalised a package of documents on joint defence industry projects. The pact covers drone development and production in Finland intended for the needs of Ukraine and European partners.

Industrial and maritime projects highlighted

According to Zelensky's post on Telegram, the deal also includes plans to "develop capacities in the area of autonomous maritime systems and the founding of a company for the manufacture of robotic land complexes." He framed the deals as a step that combines Ukrainian combat experience with Finnish technology.

Zelensky additionally expressed gratitude to President Stubb, the Finnish government, Finnish businesses and the Finnish people for their support "from the first days of the war," underlining the political backing behind the industrial cooperation.

Finnish participation is presented as both a practical contribution to Ukraine's defence needs and a signal of closer technological ties between Kyiv and Helsinki. The signing took place during a working-group session in Kyiv and was timed ahead of the country's Independence Day observances.

Details on project timelines, the companies involved and production volumes were not disclosed in the initial announcements.
