Long-range drone hit Orsk refinery; Kyiv says it will keep striking targets deep inside Russia.
A long-range Ukrainian drone struck a major oil refinery in the Russian city of Orsk on the morning of August 11, 2026, the Ukrainian military and local reports said. Orsk is the second-largest city in Orenburg Oblast and an important industrial centre near the southern Ural region.
The Ukrainian military identified the target as the Orsknefteorgsintez refinery, which has an annual crude processing capacity of six million tonnes. The statement added: "A fire has been reported. Material damage is being assessed."
The refinery supplies a wide range of refined products to domestic markets, producing gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, fuel oil, bitumen and other petroleum derivatives.
A social-media post circulating from the scene carried the brief message: "ORSK: Orsknefteorgsintez was attacked."
Wider context
The strike on Orsk follows Kyiv’s earlier confirmation of an attack on oil-sector facilities in the Siberian city of Tobolsk. Ukrainian officials say such operations will continue.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Ukraine will continue to target sites deep inside Russia. He also reiterated concerns about North Korean military assistance to Moscow, saying Russia has received additional ballistic missiles from Pyongyang and that Moscow could receive up to 50,000 North Korean troops to support the war in Ukraine. Damage assessments at the Orsk refinery are ongoing.
