Boban Nikolov ruled out of North Macedonia's Nations League opener vs Switzerland

North Macedonia will be without Boban Nikolov for the Nations League opener against Switzerland on 26 September 2026. The Vardar first-team midfielder suffered an injury during a national team training session and will not be available for the match.
Injury update
Nikolov sustained the problem while training with the national squad and team doctors have ruled him out of tomorrow’s fixture in the first round of the new Nations League. The coaching staff confirmed he will not be able to take part in the game.
It remains unclear whether Nikolov can recover in time for the meeting with Slovenia on 29 September 2026; the player’s fitness will be reassessed in the coming days.
The national team camp has not announced any further call-ups to replace Darko Churlinov, who did not travel to join the squad, nor to cover Nikolov’s absence.
The squad now prepares for the match against Switzerland on 26 September 2026 without one of its experienced midfielders, leaving tactical decisions and lineup adjustments to the coaching staff ahead of kick-off.
