Morning update: 31 open‑space fires in North Macedonia — three active, four under control
By 7:30 this morning authorities counted 31 open‑space fires: three still active, four contained and 24 extinguished.

By 7:30 this morning there were a total of 31 open‑space fires registered across the country. The Center for Crisis Management reported that of those incidents three fires remain active, four are under control and 24 have been extinguished.
Active blazes are recorded in the areas of Studeničani and Zelenikovo, in the municipalities of Gostivar and Makedonski Brod, and on the territory of Čaška. Fire crews say the flames have affected mixed and low‑stem forest, low vegetation, ferns and spruces.
Fires under control and extinguished sites
Four fires are currently listed as under control: near the Kičevo village of Tajmište, where high‑stem beech forest is involved; between the Jasen reserve and the village of Breznica in Makedonski Brod, affecting low vegetation and pine forest; the urban landfill "Melci" in Kavadarci; and the landfill in Delchevo.
Of the 24 extinguished fires, most burned low vegetation, stubble fields and waste. Authorities continue patrols and monitoring to prevent rekindling, particularly in locations with remaining smouldering material.
The Center for Crisis Management is coordinating with local fire services and municipal teams, and warned residents in affected areas to avoid outdoor burning and to report any new smoke or flames immediately.
