Horror in Austria: 37-year-old suspected of stabbing his eight-year-old daughter to death
Child died after being taken to Graz University Hospital; suspect was found injured and later arrested, motive still unknown.

A violent incident in Kumberg, Austria, left an eight-year-old girl dead after she was reportedly attacked with a knife by her father, a 37-year-old man, police said.
The emergency call came on Monday at around 22:45, when neighbours alerted authorities to a disturbance at a family house located beside the main road in the centre of the town. The single incident address is described as a two-storey white house with a large garden and a field behind it, and it stands near the local primary school.
Medical response and arrest
Emergency crews reached the scene and found the seriously injured child. Paramedics provided on-site care and then rushed her to Graz University Hospital. Despite the doctors' efforts, the eight-year-old died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Police officers discovered the 37-year-old father injured in the bathroom; investigators believe the cuts were self-inflicted. He was also taken to hospital to receive treatment and was subsequently arrested and detained by police.
The child’s mother was reportedly in the house at the time of the attack. Authorities have not released a motive, and investigators say the reason for the tragedy remains unknown as inquiries continue.
Local police are handling the ongoing investigation and have not yet provided further details about charges or the exact timeline beyond the initial emergency call late on Monday night.
