Valencia held to 0-0 by Athletic Bilbao at Mestalla
In LaLiga's ninth round on October 17, 2026 both sides failed to score; Stole Dimitrievski started in goal for Valencia.
Valencia and Athletic Bilbao shared the points in a goalless draw at Mestalla in LaLiga's ninth round on October 17, 2026, the match finishing 0-0 after neither side managed to find the net.
Stole Dimitrievski again began the game in Valencia's goal as the home team continued to struggle for results and goals this season.
Standings impact after the draw
After nine matches Valencia remain near the bottom of the table with six points and sit 19th in the standings, still searching for traction in their bid to escape a difficult start to the campaign.
Athletic Bilbao collected their ninth point from the fixture and moved up to ninth place in the table, but the Basque side will have hoped for a win rather than a single point from the trip to Mestalla.
The clean sheet meant both teams left Mestalla with something but little progress: Valencia because the point does not meaningfully ease their early-season predicament, and Athletic because they missed an opportunity to take maximum points on the road.
