Vardar strike in the 24th minute
The match’s only goal came in the 24th minute when Boban Nikolov reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area. Jankulov delivered a cross into the box, Kocev and Zakarić contested the ball in the air and the ball fell to the ground; Nikolov ran onto it and finished into Filevski’s net.
Bregalnica had earlier created several clear opportunities through Ivan Nikolov, Metodij Maksimov and Rajkov but failed to convert. On one occasion goalkeeper Davor Taleski kept the score level by denying what looked like a certain goal.
This encounter is the second of two Macedonian First League matches scheduled for today, with Vardar defending the title they won last season.
Earlier, Marko Dzhorlev became world karate champion.
