Venko Andonovski and three scholars receive the 2026 "11 October" state awards

The state award "11 October" for 2026 was presented in Parliament at noon today, honoring lifetime achievement across science, the arts, the economy and other activities of public interest in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The award is the country’s highest recognition for lifetime contribution in fields that shape public and cultural life, and this year the jury selected recipients from literature and several academic disciplines.

Recipients named by the awarding committee

The "11 October" lifetime achievement award in culture and the arts was granted to writer and university professor Venko Andonovski.

For lifetime achievement in the fields of science and education, the committee awarded the honor to Prof. Dr. Dimitar Pandev, university professor Gjulumser Kasapi, and Prof. Dr. Vlado Popovski, who holds a doctorate in historical-political and legal sciences.

According to the decision of the Awarding Committee, the distinctions recognize long-term professional work and contributions that have had public significance. The ceremony took place in the Parliament building and brought together officials and representatives of the cultural and academic communities.
