Veselin Vujović will not coach Qatar at 2027 World Championship in Germany
Montenegrin coach failed to agree a contract extension; Qatar offered only until January 2027 while he sought coverage through May for Olympic qualifiers.

Veselin Vujović will not lead the Qatar national handball team at the 2027 World Championship in Germany after failing to reach an agreement to extend his tenure with the Qatar Handball Federation.
Vujović, the experienced Montenegrin coach, said the main reason for the split was the terms of the contract that were offered to him.
"It is no secret that we did not reach an agreement on extending the cooperation. I did not receive a correct offer after winning the medal at the Asian Games, where I had the oldest team in the world," Vujović said.
Contract dispute and Olympic ambitions
According to Vujović, he expected a contract running until May so it would include the Olympic qualifying period for Los Angeles 2028. Instead, Qatar offered him a deal only through the end of the World Championship in January 2027, a length he found insufficient.
The development leaves Qatar searching for a new head coach ahead of the tournament in Germany. The federation's short-term proposal and Vujović's desire for a longer mandate were the key points of disagreement.
