Vinicius clears Instagram after Real Madrid reportedly improves offer
The Brazil forward cleared his Instagram after talks in Madrid; salary and image-rights demands remain the main obstacles to a new contract.

06.08.2026 — Vinicius Junior erased every post from his Instagram account just hours after Real Madrid reportedly presented an improved contract offer, in a move that intensifies speculation about his future at the club.
The forward's current deal runs out in less than a year and talks over an extension have dragged on for months, leaving the player's future open. Negotiations picked up pace on Wednesday when his agent, Michael Jormark, travelled to Madrid and met with the club's leadership.
After that meeting the club is said to have upgraded its proposal. The two main sticking points remain the player's salary demands and the terms for his image rights, issues that have delayed a final agreement.
Only a few hours after the meeting, Vinicius removed his profile picture and wiped all posts and stories from an account followed by about 64 million people — including match and Brazil photos — leaving the profile completely blank. The club and the player have not offered an official explanation for the action.
Interest from Arsenal and transfer implications
Arsenal have openly monitored the situation and their interest is believed to be strong; some Arsenal players have even asked their board about the possibility of bringing him in. If Vinicius does not sign a renewal, Real Madrid would face the choice of selling him this transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Reaction among Real supporters has been mixed: some interpret the deletion as a hint that he may leave, while others suspect it could be part of a marketing or personal reset ahead of a fresh contract. Talks between Vinicius and Real are expected to continue in the coming days.
