High fire danger across almost all of North Macedonia, Šar highlands only exception
Center for Crisis Management: high fire‑danger index across almost the whole country, except the higher Šar slopes.
The national crisis body has issued a warning that nearly the entire territory of North Macedonia is at high meteorological fire danger, with the exception of the higher elevations of the Šar Mountains.
Center for Crisis Management said the elevated index does not yet include any areas classified as very high, but the risk for new fires remains significant. "Although there are currently no areas with a very high index, there is a risk of fires in open areas and forest fires with high intensity," the Center said.
By 13:00 today authorities recorded seven open‑area fires around the country: three remain active, two are under control and two have been extinguished.
Active outbreaks are reported near the village of Lakavica in the Štip area, at the site called Vidush close to Makedonski Brod, and on the Krivolak military training ground near Negotino, where low vegetation is burning.
Controlled and extinguished incidents
Two fires have been placed under control at municipal landfill sites near Kriva Palanka and Delchevo. The blazes on the road in front of the REK Bitola power plant in the Novaci municipality and at the site called Kula in Veles have been put out.
