Vlado Milev to retire: final match for North Macedonia against Israel

Vlado Milev, 39, will play his final match for North Macedonia today, September 16, 2026, when the national team faces Israel at the European Championship. After the tournament Milev will officially end his volleyball career.

Milev closes a two-decade international span: he has been part of the national setup since 2006 and marks 20 years in the Macedonian colours this season.

Across his international career he was included in all four Macedonian squads that reached the final tournaments of the European Championships to date, a run that helped raise the profile of the national team on the continental stage.

As a receiver for the national side, Milev became a fixture in the starting lineup and one of the leaders of a generation credited with the team’s biggest achievements.

Today’s match against Israel will be his last appearance in the national jersey; following the European Championship he will step away from professional play.

Clubs, teammates and supporters will remember Milev for his longevity and role in guiding younger players during a 20-year international career that began in 2006.
