Recording equipment found in University of Belgrade Faculty of Law amphitheatre

Technical equipment suspected to have been used for audio-video recording was discovered in the largest amphitheatre of the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade, the faculty said today.

The faculty statement says the devices were found yesterday concealed inside an emergency fire lamp positioned above the entrance to the Radomir Lukić amphitheatre.

Police inspected the scene and seized the items

Staff from the faculty's technical service located the equipment and immediately notified members of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Police carried out an inspection at the site and removed the disputed items for further forensic examination.

The faculty expressed particular alarm that the equipment was hidden in a room used for first-year lectures, study groups, exercises and other curricular and extracurricular activities.

"This indicates a gross violation of the legally guaranteed inviolability of university space, as well as a gross violation of the privacy of students and employees of the Faculty of Law," the statement reads.

The Faculty said it expects the competent authorities to promptly undertake legally prescribed procedures to determine the relevant facts and to inform both the institution and the public in a timely manner.
