Shenka Kolozova in her prime: photos from the height of her career

Shenka Kolozova, born in Dobrevo, Probishtip on February 1, 1947, is a retired actress who spent her life on stage and became widely known for her work in the TV series Macedonian Folk Tales.

She began acting at 18 in the Shtip theatre, later performed at the theatre in Kumanovo and ultimately joined the Macedonian National Theatre in Skopje, where she finished her professional career.

During her career she took part in more than 100 premieres across the three national theatres and played 16 premieres with the private Kolozov theatre.

Stage record and legacy

Kolozova has performed in over 6,000 shows with those three theatres, a total that does not count guest appearances at the Veles theatre and other stages around the country.

On and off stage she was closely linked with her husband, Gjorgji Kolozov; together they were a familiar pair to audiences across North Macedonia.

Today she lives in the village of Velestovo near Ohrid, where her days are filled with tending a vegetable garden, caring for her dogs and cats, mowing grass, chopping wood and enjoying the countryside. Photographs published from 1987 show her at the height of her popularity and capture the period often remembered as the prime of her youth.
