Three suspects identified in Gostivar assault; two are minors

Police in Gostivar say they have identified three people suspected of taking part in a violent attack that was filmed and shared on social media.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that the case was opened after a video circulated showing a young man falling to the ground after being kicked in the head; while he lay motionless, several people continued to beat him, striking him with a wooden stick that breaks from the blows.
According to the MIA statement, the assault was reported at 22:20 on the evening the footage appeared. The 22‑year‑old complainant, identified as A.V. from Gostivar, told police that at about 02:30 the same night on Borche Jovanovski Street he and his friend L.E. were attacked by three people who used hard and wooden objects.
Police action and suspects
“For the incident, the duty public prosecutor was immediately notified, following whose instructions and in coordination with the competent prosecutor, the police officers from OVR Gostivar, after taking measures and activities, identified the three participants in the violent incident,” the ministry said.
Two juveniles from Gostivar were summoned for questioning at the police station; their travel documents have been confiscated. “The third person is V.D.(20) from Skopje, for whom a telegram has been sent to SVR Skopje for further action,” the police added.
The MIA said the suspects will be brought before a pre‑trial judge in expedited proceedings tomorrow.
