Reports say several senior players have grown skeptical of Ruben Amorim’s ideas; the club leadership continues to back him after a 0:2 home defeat to Benfica.
Pressure has grown inside AC Milan’s dressing room after reports that parts of the squad have grown wary of head coach Ruben Amorim’s methods, according to journalist Mateo Moreto.
Club leadership still backs Amorim
The club’s hierarchy has so far continued to publicly back Amorim, but tensions inside the squad reportedly rose further following AC Milan’s 0:2 home defeat to Benfica in the opening match of the UEFA Europa League main phase.
Domestic form has been inconsistent as well: after four rounds in Serie A Milan sit sixth with eight points, a start that has added to unease around the tactical direction of the team.
Amorim arrived at Milan promising an energetic style built on high pressing and intensity. Several of the more experienced players are said to be questioning those ideas and the Portuguese coach’s approach.
One concrete example is Luka Modrić: Amorim himself acknowledged that “the team loses something in pressing when the Croatian is on the pitch, but gains a lot in ball control.” That trade-off has become part of the internal debate over selection and tactics.
For now, the club leadership’s support creates a buffer around the coach, but the combination of mixed domestic results and the European setback means the situation will likely be monitored closely in the coming weeks.
