Mandatory basketball coaching clinic opens in Skopje

24.08.2026 — The first working day of the mandatory basketball coaching clinic in Skopje is underway, drawing roughly 200 coaches from North Macedonia and abroad for lectures and hands-on demonstrations.

The morning sessions featured presentations and practical work focused on transition phases of play. Two of the tournament's most experienced coaches, Svetislav Pesic and Jose Maria Berocal, led discussions on defensive and offensive transition respectively.

Afternoon programme and closing session

In the afternoon schedule there are two additional talks planned. Sasa Grujic is slated to speak about developing team play in youth basketball, outlining methods for building collective understanding and tactical cohesion among young players.

To close the day's programme, Svetislav Pesic will deliver a lecture dedicated to positional defense, bringing together tactical principles and practical examples for coaches to apply at club and academy levels.

Organisers said the clinic combines classroom theory with on-court demonstrations to give participants practical tools they can implement in training and match situations.
