Today, between 07:00 and 14:00, the pediatric department at the Clinical Hospital in Tetovo recorded 13 outpatient consultations of children; none of those patients were admitted for inpatient treatment.

Hospital director Erzen Elezi said that the figures of 139 cases, with 12 hospitalizations, published by some media outlets refer to a 48-hour period during recent working days.

"It may be a large number for two days, but as a summer period it is not much different compared to last year. These 139 examinations and 12 hospitalizations are for children who still present with different symptoms. Some have respiratory tract problems, some with the digestive system, but compared to last year there is no drastic increase. This is normal for the record of cases in the Pediatric Department considering seasonal viral and bacterial infections," said hospital director Erzen Elezi.

Hospital workload and seasonal context

Elezi framed the two-day total as a snapshot of routine seasonal variation rather than an outbreak, noting that the range of symptoms includes both respiratory and gastrointestinal complaints. He emphasized that the current numbers do not show a sharp rise compared with the same period last year.

The hospital's statement narrows the scope of the media reports, distinguishing the 13 consultations reported for the single morning shift from the broader 48-hour total of 139 visits and 12 admissions. Hospital officials continue to monitor incoming cases and to treat children according to clinical need.
