Skopje utility: all drinking water samples from 10–14 August 2026 meet standards

On 18 August 2026 the City of Skopje’s water utility reported that drinking water supplied to residents meets all legally prescribed quality standards and is fully safe for use.

According to the weekly summary issued by the Public Enterprise Water Supply and Sewerage – Skopje, field teams collected a total of 211 samples for physico-chemical analysis and an equal number — 211 — for microbiological testing during the period from 10 to 14 August 2026. Sampling was performed at 45 measurement points across all municipalities in the City of Skopje.

Laboratory findings

Laboratory results show that 100 percent of the examined samples fully comply with the Rulebook on requirements for safety and quality of drinking water (Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia, No.183/18). The report presents the outcome as confirmation that the supply conforms to the parameters set by national regulation.

The utility emphasised that this testing is part of its routine sanitary control programme and that weekly reports are published to provide continuous, timely and accurate information to Skopje residents about the safety of the water they use daily.

Officials stated that monitoring covers both physical-chemical indicators and microbiological parameters at multiple locations in the distribution network, and that any deviation from standards would trigger follow-up measures and public notification.
