A military jet crashed on Tuesday at Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany, local authorities said, with initial reports indicating one person was injured.

Emergency services were dispatched to Spangdahlem, located about 160 kilometres west of Frankfurt near the border with Luxembourg, as rescue teams secured the scene and began a preliminary assessment.
Officials in the Bitburg-Prüm district, where the base sits, said they were not able to provide further details about the circumstances of the crash at this time. The U.S. military has not yet issued a comment.
Spangdahlem Air Base is home to an F‑16 fighter squadron numbering about 20 aircraft that support United States Air Force and NATO operations worldwide. The installation is regarded as one of the U.S. military's important air bases in Europe.
Authorities and base officials said investigators will work to determine the cause of the incident. Emergency crews remained on site as officials reviewed flight records and spoke with personnel involved.
The base previously experienced a similar incident in October 2019, when an American F‑16 crashed near Spangdahlem during a routine training flight; the pilot successfully ejected before impact.
