Hit-and-run in Skopje leaves 16-year-old seriously injured

A 16-year-old boy from Skopje was seriously injured after being struck by a car on Adem Demaci Street in the Čair neighbourhood, authorities said. The vehicle left the scene after the collision.

"On 10.08.2026 at 16:55, the Skopje Police Department (SVR Skopje) received a report that on Adem Demaci Street in Skopje a passenger vehicle struck a 16-year-old minor from Skopje, who was pushing an electric scooter, after which the vehicle left the scene. The minor sustained serious bodily injuries, recorded at the Urgent Center at the Clinical Center 'Mother Teresa'. A team from SVR Skopje carried out an inspection at the scene and measures are being taken to clear up the case and locate the vehicle and driver," the police said.

The injured teenager was examined and registered as having severe injuries at the Urgent Center of the Clinical Center "Mother Teresa". Hospital staff confirmed the severity of his condition but have not released further medical details.

Police response and investigation

Officers from SVR Skopje conducted an on-site inspection and police said they are collecting evidence and pursuing leads to identify both the vehicle and the driver. Investigators are reviewing possible witnesses and any available camera footage from the area.

The crash occurred on August 10, 2026, in the afternoon in the Čair neighbourhood. Local traffic in the immediate area was handled by police while the investigation team worked at the scene.

Authorities asked anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information about the fleeing vehicle to contact the Skopje Police Department to assist the inquiry.
