Supreme Court rejects Stojanche Jovanovski’s review request; 12‑year sentence stands

The Supreme Court rejected Stojanche Jovanovski’s petition for an extraordinary review of his final conviction, finding the request unfounded.

Conviction and sentence remain in force

Jovanovski was sentenced to 12 years in prison for three criminal offences linked to the deaths of his wife, Ivana, and their daughter, Katja, after the two fell from a terrace. The court concluded the acts led to their suicides.

He was charged with causing bodily injury in the context of domestic violence, endangering safety, and instigating and assisting suicide. The charges specified the role the court attributed to his conduct in the events.

The Basic Criminal Court delivered the sentence on 7 May, and the Appellate Court later upheld that decision. With the Supreme Court’s recent ruling, the 12‑year prison term remains final.

Legal representatives may still examine other procedural options available under law, but the extraordinary review sought by Jovanovski will not alter the existing verdict or the imposed sentence.
