Vučić: There are no Bosnian or Croatian Serbs — we are all Serbs
Vučić said Kosovo Serbs face growing pressure and warned regional governments and media against language that, he argued, aims to divide the nation.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that Serbs in Kosovo are being subjected to a "terrible terror" and accused Pristina of inventing measures against them on a daily basis, while the international community remains silent because, he claimed, Orthodox Christians have themselves caused their suffering.
“We are all Serbs, we can live in different countries, but that does not mean that we want to redraw other people's borders, nor are we interested in that today; what interests us is preserving national unity,” Vučić said, stressing that he rejects geographic qualifiers that would fragment the Serbian people.
Warning to regional governments and media
Vučić warned that he will address a range of governments and media outlets in the region if they persist in using derogatory or divisive terms about the Serbian nation designed to split it.
He added that there will be consequences for those who continue such rhetoric. “Serbia will behave towards them in the same way,” he said.
The president’s remarks were followed by media reports that he is preparing a campaign to become prime minister; the coverage noted, in a lighter vein, that he would travel in a Škoda because he is “very modest.”
