Kichevo orders temporary ban on drinking water from six local supply points

The Municipality of Kichevo has announced an immediate, temporary ban on using drinking water from six local supply points in the town and surrounding villages after official test results showed problems with water quality.

Affected supply points

Local authorities said the prohibition was imposed following a formal decision by the Food and Veterinary Agency and based on physical‑chemical and microbiological laboratory analyses carried out by the Institute for Public Health – Bitola, in line with the provisions of the Law on Food Safety.

• the village water supply in Garani (the fountain by the mosque);
• the roadside fountain in Drugovo (near the junction structure);
• the public fountain “Bela Kula” in Kichevo;
• the village water supply in Strelci (by the "Milto Gura" school);
• the village water supply in Shutovo (the "Milto Gura" point);
• the village water supply in Premka (in the village centre).

The municipality appealed to residents to strictly obey the ban to protect their health and said the measure takes effect immediately. At the same time, officials clarified that drinking water from the Studenchica spring — and the municipal supply that is fed from that source — is fully safe and suitable for use.

Separately, authorities reported that water in Krushevo has also been found bacteriologically unsafe, and residents there were urged to drink only bottled water.
