Increased traffic on Macedonian roads, longest waits at Bogorodica
Highest delays are at Bogorodica; AMSM warns of landslide risk on several mountain routes
Traffic volume across North Macedonia has risen, with the largest increases visible on interurban roads and at border crossings, the Automoto Association of Macedonia (AMSM) reports.
Drivers leaving the country at the Tabanovce crossing are currently facing waits of about 30 minutes, while the longest delays are recorded at Bogorodica, where people spend around one hour to cross. Other border points on the Macedonian side report no significant hold-ups for entry or exit at this time.
Road conditions and cautions
On the state road network traffic is generally moving without major problems; carriageways are dry and passable. Nevertheless, AMSM urges motorists to adapt their speed to road conditions and to obey posted traffic signs.
The association advises extra vigilance when driving through basins, river valleys and gorges because these areas carry a higher risk of landslides and rockfalls.
Particular attention is recommended on the following road stretches: Katlanovo–Veles, Mavrovo–Debar–Struga, Vinica–Berovo and Kochani–Delchevo.
AMSM calls on all road users to drive carefully and respect speed limits, especially given the current increase in traffic intensity.
