Zelensky: No warning from partners before five-missile attack on Kyiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his government did not receive advance intelligence from partners ahead of last night's ballistic strike on Kyiv involving five missiles.

In a statement, Zelensky described the attack and underlined the consequences of the missing alerts. "It was also a fairly severe ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, with five missiles that hit civilian infrastructure. Unfortunately, there was no warning from our partners regarding the attack. Intelligence on the launch of Russian ballistic missiles helps save human lives, and that is one of the most critical issues. It is precisely that which helps prevent deaths when there is a warning about ballistic missiles," Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The president stressed that timely intelligence about launches is a vital tool for protecting civilians, because warnings allow people to seek shelter and emergency services to respond more effectively.

Damage and response

According to Zelensky's account, the five ballistic projectiles struck civilian infrastructure in the capital. He framed the absence of partner warnings as a matter that directly affects life-and-death outcomes.

The remark highlights Kyiv's continued reliance on allied intelligence to detect and warn of long-range ballistic threats, which Ukrainian authorities say can reduce casualties when alerts are issued.
