Zelensky: Ukraine ready for all meeting formats with US to pursue peace
Zelensky said Ukrainian diplomats are in daily contact with US representatives and expects envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to be active in August.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday evening that Kyiv is prepared to take part in "all formats of meetings" with the United States as part of efforts to reach a negotiated peace with Russia.
In his nightly address to the nation, Zelensky said Ukrainian diplomacy is "in daily contact with representatives of US President Donald Trump" on the negotiation process and confirmed Washington’s role in facilitating talks.
He named two US envoys he expects to be engaged this month: "We count on (the American envoys) Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to be active during August," Zelensky said.
Diplomatic contacts broadened
Zelensky also said Kyiv is pursuing parallel diplomatic efforts "with other partners, especially in the Gulf countries," but added that he could not disclose details at this stage.
The president's comments came amid ongoing military pressure: previous reports say at least one person was killed and 22 were injured in a Russian missile strike on Kyiv.
