Zelenskyy: Ukraine ready for technical trilateral talks with US and Russia
Washington has proposed a technical-level meeting by the end of October, possibly in the United Arab Emirates, Zelenskyy said after talks in Kyiv with Friedrich Merz.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine is prepared to take part in technical trilateral talks with the United States and Russia that Washington has proposed could take place by the end of October, possibly in the United Arab Emirates or another country suggested by the U.S.
Zelenskyy made the remarks during a conversation with journalists in Kyiv alongside German chancellor Friedrich Merz, and said the U.S. has already sent its proposal to Moscow and is awaiting a response.
Washington’s proposal and Moscow’s reply
“The American side contacted Ukraine and Russia and proposes that by the end of October, at a technical level, in a trilateral format, a meeting be held in some manner. Yesterday I confirmed to them that we are open to participating in the Emirates or in another country proposed by the American side,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that Kyiv has reacted positively to the suggestion and is now waiting to see whether Moscow will accept the offer.
“We respond positively to the talks,” Zelenskyy said, underlining Ukraine’s willingness to engage on a technical level while making clear that the next step depends on Russia’s reply.
