Zelenskyy: Drone strike on Odesa apartment block injures 17, including three children

A drone strike by Russian forces on a residential building in Odesa injured 17 people, including three children, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, as emergency teams continued work at the scene.

According to Zelenskyy, the strike damaged the structure from the 10th through the 17th floor of the apartment block.

"Work is also underway to repair the consequences of the attack in the Obukhiv and Boryspil districts. Members of the State Emergency Service are extinguishing a fire at a warehouse of a pharmaceutical company. Attacks were also carried out on Nikopol, Kherson, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia and Khmelnytskyi," Zelenskyy wrote on social media.

He said a total of 13 Ukrainian regions suffered damage during the previous night alone, and warned that air-raid sirens in many towns and cities "are practically not turning off because of the threat of attacks by Russian jet-powered drones."

"The enemy does not pause, the Russians have found a new way to escalate and have no intention of slowing down," the Ukrainian leader added, calling for a stronger response.

Zelenskyy urged faster production of defensive systems in cooperation with Europe and stressed the need for enhanced air defence against missiles and drones. "Europe can be self-sufficient and strong, and much of this has already been done in that direction in recent years, and only in this way can it protect itself and its way of life," he wrote.

He also said Kyiv is working daily with partners on new defence packages and thanked all those who contribute to the country's joint defence and help Ukraine.
