Zarko Peshevski auctions North Macedonia national team jersey to help Stefan

Zarko Peshevski has put his North Macedonia national team jersey up for auction to raise funds for Stefan Petrushevski, a police officer, husband and father of a one-year-old who was left with life-changing injuries in a serious accident.

Peshevski explained his decision on Instagram, writing:

"Humanity knows no borders, faith or nationality. To be humane is a virtue and a human quality that each of us carries within. Sport and athletes have known and know how to lend a hand when it is most needed.

Each of us fights battles in life. Some on the courts for their clubs and national teams, and others in everyday life, fighting for a better tomorrow for themselves and their families.

One of them is Stefan Petrushevski. He is playing the most important match and fighting the greatest battle of his life. A comrade, friend, professional in his line of work, and a caring parent and husband.

We need to help him and I know we will succeed in this humanitarian mission. 🙏

Because of all the above, with one goal – that Stefan succeeds in this most important chapter of his life – today I am announcing this jersey of the North Macedonia handball national team, for which no words are needed.

We all know what it means and what a symbol of success and unity it represents for our whole country at moments when North Macedonia plays.

The starting price for the jersey, signed by all the players who took part in the last match between North Macedonia and Romania at the European Championship, is 6,000 denars.

This mini-auction will run until Friday at 21:00.

The proceeds will be donated.

Details of the auction

The jersey carries the signatures of every player who featured in the most recent North Macedonia vs Romania game at the European Championship. Peshevski set a starting bid of 6,000 denars and said the collection will be handed over to support Stefan's recovery and his family's future.

Peshevski, a national team pivot, used his social channels to call on the sporting community and the public to join the effort. He stressed that sportspersons often step forward when help is needed and urged followers to participate by bidding or by contacting him via direct message.

The gesture was presented as a private initiative by Peshevski; the player did not specify an organising charity in the post but confirmed that all funds collected will be donated.
