Zeljko Mitrovic announces about 1,000 layoffs across his companies

Zeljko Mitrovic, owner of Pink Media Group, announced on his Instagram account that roughly 1,000 employees across companies in his business network will be laid off, after earlier dismissals at a recent theatre project in Belgrade.

Mitrovic said 150 people have already lost their jobs at the Odeon theatre in Belgrade, where he had reopened a former cinema on Kraljica Natalija street as a theatre in September 2024. He wrote that the planned cuts will affect about a dozen companies that remain under financial strain.

Details from the owner’s post

In his Instagram message Mitrovic described the decision as personally painful and announced the scale of the reductions. He wrote: "One of the hardest days of my life, full of emotions, love, warmth and understanding. I dissolved all ensembles at the Odeon theatre, 150 people have been left without work. Across the system I will have to lay off about one thousand people."

The Odeon theatre opened in September 2024 after Mitrovic bought the building that had housed a cinema on Kraljica Natalija street in central Belgrade. The theatre had already been the subject of internal restructuring proposals late last year, when Mitrovic signalled plans to disband the project and make staffing changes within Pink.

According to his post, the forthcoming layoffs will span roughly ten companies within Mitrovic's corporate structure. He characterised the move as a response to ongoing financial difficulties across those businesses.

No further operational or timeline details were provided in the Instagram post, and Mitrovic did not list which units beyond Odeon would be affected.
