Varaždin court fines woman for unregistered cleaning work
Municipal Court in Varaždin ruled the unregistered cleaning from mid-May to 8 July 2026 is punishable; earnings of €50 will be confiscated.

A 31-year-old woman from the Varaždin area has been fined by the Municipal Court in Varaždin for carrying out unregistered cleaning work, despite having earned only €50 from the activity.
Court rules small earnings do not excuse unregistered business
The court found that she provided cleaning services for apartments and houses from mid-May 2026 until 8 July 2026 without registering the activity or reporting it to the tax authorities. The offence was established on the basis of documentation from the State Inspectorate.
Although her total income from the work was only €50, the Municipal Court imposed a fine of €1,327.23 — the lowest amount within the statutory range of €1,327.23 to €2,654.46. The court also ordered that the €50 she received be confiscated and imposed €20 in procedure costs.
The deadline for payment is 60 days. If she pays two-thirds of the fine within that period — €884.82 — the fine will be considered fully paid.
The verdict reaffirms that conducting an unregistered business is punishable regardless of the small scale or low remuneration, while the court noted the woman had no prior sanctions for a similar offence when determining the penalty.
