Kocho Racin society in Koper marks 30 years with folk music and plaque

The Macedonian Cultural Society "Kocho Racin" from Obala — Koper marked its 30th anniversary with a ceremonial cultural evening that brought together folk music, traditional dances and readings of Kocho Racin's poetry.

Three decades of cultural preservation abroad

The event was led by the society's president, Blaze Atanasov, and featured performances that showcased Macedonian folklore: traditional oros, vocal ensembles and visual art. Organizers emphasized that the programme was meant to remind younger generations of their roots and to keep the language and traditions alive far from home.

Among the guests were the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc Musar, and the Mayor of Koper, Alesh Brzan, who attended the celebration and underlined the importance of cultural ties between the two countries.

The Agency for Emigration sent congratulations to Blaze Atanasov and the society's members for three decades of dedication to Macedonian culture. On the occasion of the jubilee a plaque featuring a motif from the Macedonian dance "Teshkoto" was presented to the society as a token of recognition.

Organizers said the evening proved that Macedonian culture continues to be actively nurtured abroad, and they called for the traditions to be passed proudly to future generations.

The celebration highlighted how music and dance function as social bonds: songs connect communities, oros unite participants, and tradition keeps collective memory alive.
