31 wildfires recorded in the past 24 hours; eight remain active

The Center for Crisis Management registered 31 wildfires in open areas over the past 24 hours; eight remain active and 23 have been fully extinguished.

Most serious blaze at Tajmishte in the Kichevo area

Authorities report active fires in eight municipalities, including Zelenikovo, Studenichani, Makedonski Brod, Kichevo, Vrapchishte, Mavrovo and Rostuse. The incidents involve multiple locations across the country.

At several sites crews are battling flames consuming low vegetation, shrubs and forest. The worst-hit spot is near Tajmishte in the Kichevo area, where a high-stem beech forest is burning and demanding concentrated firefighting efforts.

The Center for Crisis Management said teams continue to monitor the situation and work on containment and full extinction of the remaining fires.

During the same 24-hour period, smaller fires were reported in other municipalities across the country, stretching local response resources.

Earlier reports noted severe damage from previous fires in the Prilep region, where several beekeeping yards were destroyed.
