At least 33 people were killed and 18 injured when Russian bombs struck two public buses in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, authorities said.
Attack on civilian transport
The strike occurred in Kramatorsk, in Ukraine's Donetsk region, and hit buses that were carrying civilians rather than military targets.
"Once again, the Russians attacked a location where there is definitely no military target. A public bus, civilian transport. People who were simply doing their work," wrote the Kramatorsk City Council on Telegram.
Local officials reported the casualty figures but gave no further operational details in the initial statements.
Rescue teams worked at the scene to help survivors and recover the victims. Hospitals in the area received the injured, who numbered 18 according to official counts.
Investigations and further updates were expected as officials continued to assess the scale of the destruction and identify the victims.
