Preventive screening on city square: 39% had stroke risk factors, 74-year-old admitted
Screenings on the city square covered 174 people; carotid checks on 160 showed findings in about 40 percent.

Preventive health activities held on the city square reached 174 people, and screening identified risk factors for stroke in 39 percent of them, including elevated blood pressure, diabetes and raised blood lipids.
Medical teams from the Clinic of Neurology also performed carotid artery checks yesterday to detect early changes that can increase stroke risk.
Carotid exams and immediate hospital admission
Teams examined 160 citizens with carotid ultrasound; roughly 40 percent of those screened had a notable finding that requires follow-up.
A 74-year-old patient judged to be at high risk of having a stroke was immediately admitted to hospital for further care.
Organizers said people with detected abnormalities will be contacted and invited for additional tests and clinical follow-up.
